  1. And there is just one more thing if I can trouble you to save me some time searching fruitlessly... I want a handwritten-style message to appear as the homepage launches - so it will say "Welcome to" and then fade away or splinter and dissolve or something. What's the easiest way to do it - is there something more impressive than a marquee these days? Thanks C
  2. Thank you so much, you're a star! Successfully combined it and the tooltip now looks lurrrrvely!!!
  3. Sorry but I'm a bit lost - I forgot to say I'm a beginner! I have 9 buttons (all the same style but in 6 different colours) - each button has a different name on it, and needs a different comment in the tooltip section. Is 1btooltip the name for the first of 9 tooltips - ie i should have 9 different tooltips say 1a to 1i? Or 1btooltip calls the overall tooltip style (say a block speech bubble 100 x 75px with white font) and includes the text as described in the title section in my line of coding?
  4. Hi Lynsdey Thnank you for your reply - this looks perfectly workable. But I'm confused about "nesting" two class elements, as the button (called noisy green) is the class with the tooltip called title - is this wrong (good old google search got me this far!)? <li> <input type="submit" class="noisy green" value="Mrs Jane Donaldson, Staffs..." title="I think your service is wonderful - thank you for tracing my family"/> </li> Thanks Claire
  5. Hi After some great help from Teodora, I've made some progress on the site this week. But now I've gotten over-excited and decided to use buttons for our testimonials page (just to break it up a bit from too much text!) So on the button, I want the name of the customer, then on mouseover I'd like the customer's comment to appear in a lovely stylised tooltip box. Can it be done with the code I'm using? http://www.gene-genie.com/testimonials.html Or if not then how can I get round it? If possible, I'll be very happy.... Thx C
  6. OK, so from the links it's kinda clear that I'm out of my depth - I'd get there, but don't have that time to invest at the moment. I knew I was way out of date, but hoped by patching some code together, I could get by, but obviously not! So I'll try the solutions you suggested re fixed width - I thought it was the opposite ie that if I put 75%, it would resize to 75% of whatever screen it displayed on. I know people will have to zoom in, but most sites that I visit are the same, so I don't think people will be put off (hopefully!) Plus the site is not complex, just text mainly, so shouldn't cause too much trouble with slow loading etc! Thx Teodora
  7. Hi Teodora Got all the links and nav bar working lovely now - thanks again for your help yesterday. In fact if you ever feel the urge to trace your family, please drop me a line and I'll be happy to offer a generous discount :) On another separate matter, I'm now struggling to get a consistent display across browsers and mobile - I use Firefox so it displays fine in that. Chrome also seems fine. But on IE it seems to be reduced to a really small size that looks rubbish. In terms of mobile - my phone is the Google one, so again looks OK (as it uses Chrome) - although the menu bar collapses into two rows. On iPhone (presumably Safari) it makes the display into portrait (even on the landscape view with the phone turned sideways). Not sure about others. Is this anything you are able to answer or is this a whole new can of worms (in which case should I post it as a new question?) Many Thx C
  8. Thx again Teodora, you are a coding genius...
  9. All good and works, thank you. But how do I get my menu buttons to change colour as before when hovered over or clicked.... Thx C
  10. Thank you Teodora, you're a star! I'm going to try it now...I'll be back...
  11. Ok, here is the link - http://www.gene-genie.com/findyourfamily.html - no laughing, I did say I'm a novice
  12. I hold my hands up - I'm a novice trying to put together coding from several different websites to create the content that I want for a new site. Also I have taken the tutorials online (or so I thought) about the sections I require. But I now have hyperlinks in paragraph text, animatedcollapse (or even just links in general) taking the attributes of the menu bar items. Not sure if there's some way to distinguish between the two - have done this before with <li> and <li2> for example, but it's definitely not working this time... I'm also probably mixing up html and css for styling which presumably won't help! All help greatly appreciated Thx C
  13. Hi All I need to host an mp3 player on either a Wordpress site or an html site. The minimum requirement is that the player needs to allow people to download a higher spec version of the track upon pressing a button. Ideally I would like it to also have an optional Donate button (to allow people to donate via Paypal if they wish) Is anyone familiar with a player that has this functionality? All advice very much appreciated Thanks C
  14. Hmmm, the elusive "someone" - gets all the best jobs I hear! (lol) No problem though, will consider myself tartly rebuked and proceed with haste to "the appropriate place" ("someone's" house perhaps)
  15. "Hire" sounds way too official for what I had in mind! But I need someone to help, so I'm happy to pay for that help (within reason).
