I was looking through some of the forums related to this kind of stuff the other day. The general feeling I got was that you've got to have 100s or 1000s of sites if you are wanting to make any decent money from adsense/affiliate stuff/etc on static sites. Perhaps each site makes a couple of quid per week but x1000! Then it's happy days! I think they don't really put much work into the design. It's more SEO that they focus on. So really, lots of crappy little sites that rank highly for certain niches is the way to go if you want to make money via adsense etc. Probably not put your name on them then! Not wanting to post links but working nomad was one I looked at. They also seem to find that ebooks (pdfs) sell quite well. Ebooks focused on how to make money doing what they are doing being the most popular! lol! I must admit I bought one for $25 - not very useful Cheers, Neil.

Can't honesty say I liked it much Problems being.. 1. text size and font of the top links remind me of google adwords! 2. don't like the mouse over making the link text smaller 3. underlining of html 4.0 etc - are they links? 4. "click to verify" click what? 5. don't like that tree either! Sorry but you did ask!

Just came across this forum by chance on a google search. I've been lurking on devshed for a bit now but it's nice to find an active UK based forum specifically focused on web design. Anyway, I did a bit of web design back in the early 2000s. I even ran a BBS back in the mid 1990s (if anyway remembers what they are!). Hoping to get back into web design/development and already have some friends lined up who want stuff doing. They want their sites for free but it will add nicely to a portfolio of work I've been busily studying CSS and JavaScript via w3schools. Actually spent most of this afternoon learning CSS and feel I've made a nice start. Also I'm getting quite familiar with WordPress and have had a little look at Joomla but think I'll leave the CMS stuff alone except for WordPress for the moment. Any tips re learning resources appreciated. Cheers, Neil.
