  1. Thanks so much for all your help! Needless to say, it's working now. You've saved me a lot of trouble, I can't thank you enough.
  2. This is so strange... I know there must be something wrong with it still. I've changed it to pixels, but it still shows up the same. Do you think you could please have another look at it? I've uploaded the changes.
  3. I did everything you asked me to, but it still shows up the same as before. Should I forget ems and just use pixels for the entire thing, or is there something I missed? Thanks a ton for all your help!
  4. Hi all, This is a site I redesigned for a B&B a while back: Southern Forest If you look at it in IE6 you'll see that the main content area has stretched out, and is out of alignment with the navigation/header area. Now, I know about creating alternate stylesheet for IE, but to be honest I'm not sure where to start. Any help is appreciated. I don't know what it looks like in other versions of IE, as I'm on a mac and haven't had access to the others, so if you can check please let me know. Now, I am aware that it may not be the prettiest, nor the best coded site in the world (I can't help but cringe when I see those stupid workarounds...) but this was when I was just starting out… And you should have seen what it was like before. ^_~ Thanks!
  5. Of course you did. No need to apologise. ^^
  6. Yeah, I know. I'm so glad it wasn't me It's all fixed now, so that's good. I can back to being stressed over worthwhile things now! And I am no man, my friend.
  7. Mmm.. I've been doing some research into inheriting bad code... And given that it doesn't affect the appearance of the site- that much- I don't think they'll want me to do it... Well, I might propose it next year but for now I work on doing the changes they want. It just takes up far too much time and effort to be worth it at the moment.
  8. 0.o thanks. That's... weird. As I get deeper into this site, I feel my headache getting bigger... The navigation is so frustrating.... *sigh* ^^
  9. Just took over the maintenance of this website, because their previous guy up and disappeared.... It's one of those things that looks good, until you look closer. http://www.farsouthtasmania.com Get a load of what the h1 tag is around on the front page! And it's below an h2 tag! It's scary. Plus, the css styles used are counter intuitive, and they often use inline styles. And I have trouble reading the way they've structured it. And even the file structure of the thing is scary. So many pages, images outside of an image folder, css and javascript in the same place as all the other files, and everything is all jumbled up. And the content management system the group were using was Contribute. I could go on and on. I think this is going to be a headachey site, though I might just have fun tearing it apart. does anyone know what a file with an extension like this is for? It's totally empty of anything: doverhotel.html.LCK Whew. Anyway, I was wondering whether there was anything in particular anyone can see that might pose problems for me.
  10. yeah, thanks. ^^ brr. HAckers are scary. *runs and hides*
  11. That's the thing- Jumba is a very good host! *sigh* ^^ Hackers are a designer's worst nightmare. Well, I guess that they're anyone with a website's worst nightmare, really!
  12. Two websites I designed... hacked... *bursts into tears* Ah well. At least I'm a clever girl and backup everything. but still! I'm with Jumba, on the Kookaburra server, and everyone on that server has been hacked, which basically means we're all stuck with "Ownz by linuXploit_crew" where our site used to be. Seriously, how childish do you have to be to want to destroy other peoples hard work like that? If you're clever enough to hack, you're clever enough to do something that doesn't ruin everyone else's day. *groan* Rant over. ^^ I suppose it had to happen to me sometime- just one of those things, I guess. *sigh* Anyone else had that happen to them?
  13. Thanks for that! I'll definitely be able to use that technique, though probably not in this instance... Is it possible to keep the text there, so that it doesn't disappear when the mouse goes away? Or is that only possible with Javascript?
  14. Are you using IE6? IE6 is one of the most annoying browsers in existence. It doesn't support PNG transparency, but most other browsers- those that aren't archaic- do. Should you feel it necessary to keep the transparency in IE6, you might find this page useful... http://24ways.org/2007/supersleight-transparent-png-in-ie6 But I don't bother with hacking so that IE6 users can see what all the other browsers can. IE6 should be abolished, not encouraged! Hope I've been of help!
