  1. From this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atom_%28standard%29 I have: <id>http:/mysiteaddress/</id> <title>mytitle</title> <updated>2012-05-26T20:05:00Z</updated> <link href="http://mysitetitle/" rel="self" /> <link href="http://www.mysitetitle.com/" /> It validates though with warning: Self reference doesn't match document location (in links). The .xml file is in same directory as the site index. What needs correcting? Thanks
  2. Anyone come across sites offering Export Templates for Microsoft Deep Zoom using Expression Blend? If not, do you have any advice on trying to export decent designs with Deep Zoom if new to it (And Expression & programming in general...)?
  3. I am looking to make this site work with IE like it works with Firefox: http://www.semiotically.com/ Javascript file: http://www.semiotically.com/ascroll.js Tbh the site works as I currently want it to with Firefox, Chrome & Opera (excluding the text anchors I am aware to) & I was just hopeful there was quick tweak to make IE do so to - in relation only to the horizontal scrolling, I am not dealing with content quite yet..? Thanks, hopefully someone can use their previous IE knowledge with quick response, Sem.
  4. did you clear the cache/ clear recent history when you test online? You know the pragma, cache, expire settings etc so when you visit you receive the updated code each time not just the cached version from past..?
  5. really on loading? or anything specific? I'm getting close to starting work to validating site so now's the time to vent!
  6. hi another implementation. 1. Am using this script: <script language=javascript>function loadsource() { var defaultPage = "tweets.html"; var query = window.location.search.substring(1); var pos = query.indexOf('='); if (pos > 0) { var frameSource = query.substring(pos+1); window.frames["righthere"].location = frameSource; } else { window.frames["righthere"].location = defaultPage; } } </script> with this code: <body onLoad="loadsource()"> This scipt allows me to load external content into IFrames (within index.html), try if you wish: http://www.semiotically.com/index.html?fs=cv.pdf THE ISSUE: When using <body onLoad="loadsource()"> it intereferes with the scrolling script, and although still works you have to manually click start scrolling button. So how can I alter this little snippet to achieve same effect though with the scrolling still active straightaway?
  7. this works... <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.semiotically.com/ascroll.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > function init (){ document .getElementById ('hmenu').onmousemove=autoscroll; } window.onload = init; </script> <script> // function to start animation of sort on mouse over function start() { document.getElementById('hmenu').onmousemove = autoscroll; } // function to stop the move over event function stop() { document.getElementById('hmenu').onmousemove = null; } // initialize on page load window.onload = init; </script> </head> <body> <h1 id="hmenu" style="color:red;"></h1> <input type="button" value="StartScroll" onclick="start()" /> <input type="button" value="StopScroll" onclick="stop()" /> now working... </body>
  8. I tried (at least as far as I can imagine it might implement successfully) so please!!! I have this in script in head: <script> // function to start animation of sort on mouse over function start() { document.getElementById('hmenu').onmouseover = autoscroll(e); } // function to stop the move over event function stop() { document.getElementById('hmenu').onmouseover = null; } // initialize on page load window.onload = init; </script> And this code at very end of <body> <h1 id="hmenu" style="color:red;"></h1> <input type="button" value="StartScroll" onclick="start()" /> <input type="button" value="StopScroll" onclick="stop()" /> I can see the way the buttons are not going to activate the script just I don't know the way to do this..?
  9. I've calmed it down a little... If you know how to achieve the following you may be able to tame it I noticed something at the same time: If I can remove the gaps between the IFrames (that contain the pdf's, guestbooks, movies etc), then the only area that could cause scrolling would be thin pale green area, the secondary goal I was looking for (so taking out 2 birds with 1 stone)... I'm such an amateur I've added so much miscellaneous CSS to try and remove these pixels it's surreal... so how can I do this? You may also notice the buttons (the 1st goal: the original on/off/ effect). If anyone knows how to target the scrolling from these please post script... again I've tried various "hmenu.onclick="wtf!" so if you mean business please enlighten this rookie. Sorry for delay in replies I enabled 'instant notification' I'm sure?!? I will just check website regularly in future. Thanks again.
  10. jack I'm note sure what this would implement? what would be the outcome?
  11. A friend modified a code to make a scrollable horizontal menu, that I use as the basis for my site: The code can be found here: http://www.semiotically.com/ascroll.js'>http://www.semiotically.com/ascroll.js The site is http://www.semiotically.com I really enjoy the fun aspect of the scrolling, I would now like to add a button underneath that on clicking will stop the JS code, so users can browse without the speedy scrolling, and once they want to rescroll again: to be able to click this button again to turn it back on... How do I make this button that targets the pre-existing javascript with on/off/on/off affect? Thanks guys.
  12. I have website that currently loads several IFrames and this hurts the loading times. What I want to be able to do is to use <object> tag to display an image to begin with and then later, if the user so wishes, to be able to convert this same <object> to display external HTML page if user clicks a link. This will really improve load times... PLEASE POST REPLY, thanks in advance. // <object classid="clsid:25336920-03F9-11CF-8FD0-00AA00686F13" type="text/html" data="http://www.google.com" style="width: 1000px; height: 600px;"></object> This the standard code for using <objects> to display html; so to convert IMG to HTML would need to target the objects' "type" in addition. //
  13. Hi the file is: ascroll.js It's pretty much a CPU issue the scrolling, I've tested on various family machines and the result correlates to this. I will create Images that link to the Iframes, instead of keeping them open continuously (some will remain). I might consider slowing the scrolling too once I've finished the other. I will amiss the background images as I prefer the functionality. I downloaded Safari and it works like Opera, Firefox and IE, so maybe it was still loading the JS. I've taken a lot of stick on the use of Iframes, it seems there is also support: - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/605736.html - http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18597 It's still ongoing so I'm not concerned yet with the parsing as long as I can still get results I am looking for across the browsers I am testing for. Thanks guys.
