  1. SniderDK, thank you! I will do what you said and see if that works better.
  2. Thank you so much clearcutdesignz! This works indeed! The images can be modified, deleted and more can be added as well without a classname added. One thing wrong though, it changes my font type on some of my text. I'm not sure why. Would you? I'll go over the coding to see if there is something that catches my eye. <--- I figured it out! I had to repeat the text formatting. Thanks again!
  3. I have a client that have requested the ability to update her own content and photos. CushyCMS has been recommended on here so that is what I have chosen to go with. I know very little about coding and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to set-up the editable section. Could someone help me please? I would aprecciate it so much. This is giving me a headache. I'm starting a course about this stuff on the 18th but I need to get this set-up a.s.a.p. If I get some help with setting up the Home page, I might be able to figure out the other pages. This is the home page: http://www3.telus.net/gdsilva/Home.htm I want her to be able to edit everything from the beginning of the quote below the logo and navigation buttons to after her email address near the bottom. Thank you!
  4. Thanks SniderDK for this information. This WC3 validator is quite the nifty tool! I wish I understood what it means and what I need to change. I find this stuff very intimidating. I will have to take it a step at a time. First I want to know what I need to fix for this site to show up on Google when I search for "Memories by Midnight". Thanks for the info about keywords. I will make some changes on that. I make it clear with my clients that I'm not versed in SEO. However I do feel bad if their site don't show up on searches.
  5. When doing a Google search for Memories by Midnight, I would like it to show up first on the list as I know it could. The site has been live for about 5-6 weeks. I'm totally in the dark when it comes to coding for SEO. I know minimal coding unfortunately. I will remedy to that but for now, I would like to ensure that my client's site be as SEO as possible. Although I make clear to my clients from the start that this isn't something I'm good at, I want to do the best I can for them.
  6. Thanks Zig! I'll have to check that one too!
  7. Thank you Charlotte for your feedback. What does W3C validated means?
  8. I'm new on this forum. Great resource by the way! Love it! I'm a newbie at designing websites. I've been doing it as an income earning hobby for about a year and have a hand full of clients. Just this past month, I've decided to explore this further and have signed up for numerous courses. For me, it is important that I find the best way to design sites that are visually attractive and functional for my clients while keeping in mind what I enjoy doing and where my talents lay. I've seen a lot of comment saying that WYSIWYG softwares are 'bad', taboo, etc. Yes I have seen some pretty amazing looking websites done with Dreamweaver, etc. I would like to open a discussion about the pros and cons of both WYSIWYG softwares and coding. Please let me know what method you prefer and why. Thanks Ginette
  9. That's a great question! I'm faced with the same challenge right now with a client!
  10. Hello Dan! Thanks for your feedback! Can you tell me why 'sideways' navigation is a bad idea? I'm a newbie and need to understand the reason why some of the things I do are 'bad'. I haven't learned PSP yet. I will in April. I'm looking forward to it. Right now, I'm using PSP. I will keep in mind what you have said. I really get the importance of a great quality image. Thank you!
  11. Thanks JohnZ for your feedback! I'm trying to grasp some of the thoughts that I have seen shared on this forum. It's part of the learning for me. Maybe you can help me understand your comment better. I'm not sure what is so bad about 'older' styles. Wouldn't some people prefer those to the more modern looking one? Wouldn't that be like fashion or home? Some people like sleek and modern and some might prefer traditional and warm. My clients have hired because they like my work. Are my clients wrong then? As I told traxor, I'm not challenging you. I'm trying to understand.
  12. Thank you traxor for your welcome and feedback. You are right, I know I have to up the game and I have signed up for a few courses to help me with that. I'm hoping though that I would keep my sense of uniqueness in my design. I find that many websites nowadays seem to look the same to me. Can you tell me why it is so taboo to use WYSIWYG software? I'm not grasping why that is since these softwares do the job. I'm not challenging you. I'm just trying to understand. Thanks again traxor!
  13. Thank you designer3:16! This looks great! So I can use Picassa and it won't have any Picassa advertising on it? I've tried Slide but it has the links and everything to promote Slide and that doesn't look professional at all.
  14. Thank you delboy1875 for your feedback. I really appreciate it. I'm still working out my prices but to give you an idea, the Memories by Midnight site costed $700. As you said, it all depends on the number of pages, the type of pages, etc. I really work with my client. If they need help with getting a domain name, hosting space, etc. I'm there helping them. I really enjoy doing the whole process. Thanks again for taking the time to offer your feedback.
  15. Hello, I'm looking for a photo gallery option that my client can easily update on her own. Any suggestions? Thanks!
