  1. OK - I was being really thick and changed the code in index.htm rather than stylesheet. I have changed it and it works perfectly now. THANK YOU very much. You will make a older lady incredibly happy - now I can rock on and do her site Thanks ~Webby x
  2. Thanks - this is all I can find: <div class="flash"> <img src="images/topcorn.gif" alt="" width="466" height="3" /> <img src="images/flash.jpg" alt="" width="466" height="353" border="0" usemap="#Map" /> <img src="images/botcorn.gif" alt="" width="466" height="3" /> </div> Any suggestions please? I'll have a little play in the meantime. Not sure about floating - haven't learnt that yet!
  3. Hi, I am doing another freebie website as a favour (self catering cottage) and downloaded this free template. However looking at it online, it seems corrupted prior to downloading it (in both IE and firefox). I downloaded it, opened it in dreamweaver and yes the pictures are not coming up to the right of the nav bar (on left side). Instead the bedroom pictures are coming up below. I am sure this is simple enough but have spent a while looking through the code trying to figure out where it went wrong. Please can someone give me some pointers? http://www.websitetemplates.org/free-templates/Bed-Breakfast/templateinfo.html (click on demo - middle bottom left) then it takes you through to the demo page - which shows the picture of the bed underneath the site (I assume it should be to the right like the link above) http://www.websitetemplates.org/free-templates/Bed-Breakfast.html (top right of this screen click download to get the download). Any help very much appreciated.
  4. Hiya, Thanks - BUT the layout it a little basic, but will do if ness. Was wondering if I need PHP and SQL to take subscribers? Please can someone tell me? I need to change my hosting package if that is the case. Thanks
  5. Hi, Sorry if this has been asked a zillion times over - but I would like to add 'sign up for our newsletter' to our site - preferably something free as we are a non-profit org and very small. Please can someone direct me? I assume I will also need SQL/MySql & PHP? Was just reading up on Ajax - sounds good but haven't a clue where to look or start. Still a newbie at this. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks ~Webby
  6. Thank you everyone. Selena, hi thanks for re-writing html and css for me. I did try it, but it kicked the blue footer at the bottom of index page over to the right column and then made right column go massive. So reverted back and worked my way up suggestions. Bocaj - thanks When you say hr must be absolute value do you mean "0" ? Please don't laugh if I have that very wrong! That is what I have set it to on index page and it's gone, so may as well take out hr tag altogether really. Designer 3:16, sorry only just seen what you said about hr tag - not got time to fiddle now as running out door. I did change the index.html from <p align= .......> to <li align= ....> and it started putting bullets by each one (which is what was on original css sheet), so reverted back. But can totally see where you are coming from. Any ideas? Thanks everyone so much again. The tabs are still not showing up in firefox along the top 'course outline', 'prices', 'contact us' etc - not sure why. Any ideas please? Will do more tonight when I get in. Thanks
  7. I just solved *some* of it - as css stylesheet was linking to wrong area, so have corrected that. BUT now left colum (leftnav) now showing up all small and squished. Arrrgghhhh. Can anyone see a coding blunder please? Thanks Sorted above squishy by putting back the original CSS stylesheet and FTP'ing it up, but now finding that the tabs aren't showing in firefox, the columns aren't showing, the width is huge on the right side and horizontal line is huge when it should only be 50%. Arrrggghh nightmare.
  8. Hi, I have done a freebie as a favour/project and designed my first website (using a template) in Dreamweaver CS4 - however all the way along when testing it would open in IE and be fine. Have uploaded the website tonight. Tested it in both IE and Firefox. Works fine in IE but really massively out of sync in Firefox. Please can someone help and shed some light? URL is hampshire - training dot co dot uk (sorry don't want it indexed by google) Thanks
  9. Hello! I am from the south of the UK, a bit of a dabbler in web design, used to be in IT and now a full time mum. I have been tasked with getting a few websites going for people. One I started on is a Joomla project (almost complete) and the other (a CSS and HTML / XHTML built in dreamweaver and I taught myself!) is for a non-profit organisation (due to go live on thursday!). I was googling for 'how much should I charge' and came across this forum. Spent hours getting things *just right* but of course can't charge for all these hours. I would love to ask what ppl think of my sites and how much I should charge for them but I don't want to post URL's on here. Like I say - I just dabble but would love to learn more. I have an oscommerce live site of my own too (taken me 2 years to build with many mess ups!), an html site for my other business as well. I would love to learn more when baby is in bed and am really into doing tutorials online. Anyway - HI! Thanks for reading ~Webby
