July 23, 200818 yr It's Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Maori Language Week) in New Zealand and Google have released a Maori version of Google (avaliable from google.co.nz). It's great to see Google supporting languages such as Maori and should be fantastic for school kids here and anyone wanting to learn Maori - so good on them!
July 23, 200818 yr Hah, cool so Internet in Mãori is Tukutuku . Sounds like a cool language to learn.
July 23, 200818 yr Author It is a beautiful sounding language (Mrs.Wizely is a Maori girl) and has some brilliant words. It can also be funny because things are pronounced differently and some words sound rude! For example - it wasn't a written language and it was important to introduce who you were going right back through your ancestry and where you were from. This 'family history' is called your 'Whakapapa' - doesn't sound too funny? Now when I tell you that 'Wh' is pronounced 'F' like 'Ph' and 'a' is a bit 'u' sounding? Now read 'Phak-a-papa' with these pronunciations and consider it's about your family history - brilliant!
