Hi guys,

 

I have started to make a website on my laptop, which has a res of 1280 x 800 pixels. However I believe laptop screen res are usually unique to those of desktop PCs.

 

I was just wondering if someone could take a screen shot of my site in a different res - larger or smaller so I can see whether my site looks good or just plain hideous.

 

Usually I make a website in my rather respectable res and then when I look on my partner laptop of 1920 x 1400, my website is tiny and stuck at the top of the web browser like this little thumbnail of a website.

 

Also my work PC uses the ancient 800 x 600 pixels, so then my graphics look large and clumsy and sometime blurry and not very crisp.

 

It would help me alot if anyone has any tips for how to deal with this problem, and if you could post a few screen shots to see if I am on the right track.

Hey, thanks I'm glad it looks good on your PC ... If anyone else has some comments or some screen shots to help me along, please post them.

Actually I just tried the website in an old version of IE6 I have saved on my start menu (i use firefox usually) - and the png images had dark borders around them.

 

I have changed the to gifs, which is a little annoying because I prefer the pngs ... but hey ho

You can select screen resolutions from the dropdowns under the lists

to be honest I always think you should design for 1024x768 or even 800x600 depending on who your audience is. If it's older folk with older computer 800x600 would be better but for an every day site 1024x768 would be better.
