I have created an online shop for a small business via Wordpress using woo commerce. Currently the shop is all up and running and the payment method that has been made available to customers via the online shop is the standard paypal system.

 

I don't often deal with e-commerce shopping systems, and have never come across anyone needing anything other than pay-pal. Am I right in thinking that in order for my customer to take direct payments online from credit and debit cards via the online shop, then the way to do this is through a payment gateway, (i.e sage pay and worldpay) and and would I be right in thinking most, if not all payment gateways take a fee or monthly subscription?
