Does Wordpress Website Always Need To Have Menu At The Top Of The Page?

Featured Replies

I believe you can put it where you like.

Assuming you have the knowledge to write a template to put it in the position you want it, or you use a theme that has it in the position you want it to be, or you know how to edit the template of the theme you are using to move it to where you want it. Or you use a plugin (or write your own code) to add in a menu in a different position.

Yep they can go anywhere and you can create your own custom menus and display them wherever you want on the site. A quick Google will show you examples and Teodora's link is the WordPress codex for the same, give it a good read as there are many hidden features of WP that 99% of people don't know about....

I should have said that you could also put a custom menu in the sidebar using a widget. Then you'd have to not display the top menu, I suppose. I haven't really thought this through properly :)

You'll need to be careful about the way in which you implement menus. For example, I've coded my own custom theme for my own personal use, but then later tried to use Woocommerce with it. Sad to say that because I didn't follow typical resale wordpress conventions that my theme needed tweaking and a 'proper' menu implementing.
