April 25, 201412 yr ..what technique to dive into. I have no problem creating the game itself, already made a cms to create the characters, cities, weapons etc. The thing that is really making my brain crack is the animation part. I want to have fights similar to good ol' 7th saga - snes. I'd rather stay away from flash and would love to learn something new, I've seen webgl and canvas, is it worth diving into that or is flash the way to go? Thanks in advance.
April 25, 201412 yr Wow.. well that is complex indeed. I think HTML5 Canvas is going to be your best bet for this, however, if it's games you want to make, might I suggest you do some research into Construct2, the game maker which is fairly simple to code for, and then you can not only export as HTML5 canvas, but also android and iOS too. You'll be making better games using that tool than you will just trying to learn from scratch, I am sure.
April 25, 201412 yr Canvas and Webgl are definitely worth pursuing more than Flash. There are difficulties with HTML5 games, you need to spent a lot of time fine tuning, as games tend to demand a lot of processing from your machine. Cheating the game is also tricky to prevent.
April 25, 201412 yr Author I don't know much about it, but this guy certainly does - http://rawkes.com. Thanks for that. I see he wrote a book HTML 5 Canvas for Games and Entertainment. Seems like a good point to start this journey.
