March 29, 201412 yr Okay but what would stop people using sweatshops like Fiverr, PPH, Elancer and 99Designs instead? Those options are equally as cheap (or cheaper) and immediate.

Free listings will do the same and cost nothing, a cheap option is a localized listing on yell for less than £25 a month! Or use social media and blog. Selling your soul to the devil like this only gets you know for being cheap. It will not attract the sort of discerning clients that want quality and will pay for it. Thus your short term exposure is likely to cost you more over time. MM is right - 'Flogging a dead horse' and why not just go to a cheap sweat shop for cheaper logo's? There is one important thing to remember. Getting 1 quality client that will a ) Tell others how good you are, & b ) may even come back for more themselves. (Instant good rep that will take a lifetime of living up to) Is worth 10 clients that want a quick cheap fix and might if you are luck tell somebody 'Well it was cheap what do you expect' instead of taking 2 seconds to tell somebody what the design is about. A project is something with a clear end, like making an album, a film, or a new game. A project will eventually be completed, and something will be produced as a result.

March 30, 201412 yr It does have a clear end, thats the whole point... But it is not as specific as they require. I'm not trying to be annoying, but you're trying to use it for a service. That is not it's intended use. There are websites like Fiverr (albeit a stupidly competitive site - and cheap is dramatically favoured over quality) for this kind of thing. Alternatively, don't let clients look for you. Sites like PeoplePerHour are good ways to build your portfolio, earn you a fair wage and create relationships with companies and individuals who, providing they're satisfied with the work, will often refer to you again and again. Approaching local businesses can do you no harm, either.
