March 8, 201412 yr I'm really a newbie when it comes to microformats and microdata. I've always aimed at making my markup as semantic as possible but have only just began to try to implement this. What I really need is a tool to validate my use of microformats2 and microdata. I've installed the oprator plugin for firefox that alllows me to "extract" microformats from my markup but the plugin doesn't seem to work with microformats2 or microdata. I also have a question regarding microdata itemscopes: Can I add multiple itemtypes to an itemscope and have the itemscope span over an entire page by adding it to a wrapper div on each page? That way i could just add itemprops when needed. Or should a scope only span over one or more relevant itemprops?
March 8, 201412 yr I use this tool from Google. Looking past the Google search result example, it pulls out all microdata so you can see if you've formatted it all correctly... http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets As for your question, an itemscope should generally contain multiple item props. That itemprop can be another itemscope too, for example: <div itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Person"> <span itemprop="name">Andy Lockett</span> <img itemprop="image" src="/my/image.jpg" /> <meta itemprop="gender" content="male"> <div itemscope itemprop="address" itemtype="http://schema.org/PostalAddress"> <span itemprop="streetAddress">123 Example Street</span> <span itemprop="addressLocality">Exampleton</span> <span itemprop="addressRegion">Exampleshire</span> <span itemprop="postalCode">EX12 3AM</span> <span itemprop="addressCountry">GB</span> </div> </div>Edit: This is a really useful site, if you haven't come across it yet: http://schema.org Edited March 8, 201412 yr by andy9l
