My first webpage

Featured Replies

After quite a long time crying over my computer and a ridiculous amount of help from people on this forum, i've finally finished my first webpage...

http://antidepressants.zxq.net/

... what do you guys think? Im a bit unsure on the red rollover on the links.

I like it  It's simple, too the point, informative and most importantly easy to navigate. Well done B)

The red rollovers is okay, if maybe a little harsh against the blue background. It does not make it difficult to read though. It matches the page titles for consistency of style as well.

Again, well done. First page down of what is sure to be many good ones.

Loving the irony here!!!

About your site:

If this is your first ever site, then well done! You should be very pleased! Of course, there is room for improvement, all sites have that (even Rawkes??).

First off, I would suggest that the blue panel on the left with the links in is not wide enough. Big words like antidepressants are slightly spilling over into the main content on my browser (firefox 2, Linux).

Your code looks nice and clean, and your content is clearly presented and easy to read. Visually, I think it could be improved, with a little attention to detail. I think it's hard with your chosen subject matter to know where to start though :D

When I first saw the page, before looking at the code, I thought to myself - here's a site using frames. I suppose the block elements look very rigid and fixed, and you could maybe break up the blockyness of it with a little colour and texture...

Very well done for a first site though - you should see the first site I made :bad::D

Blue and Red? Basics bro, basics !

Because the contents has no clear edge to the bottom and the right, it just slips into your background colour, so the page just feels off - to be sorted ?

Have to agree with pretty much everything Notbanksy has said, ESPECIALLY the bit about first sites!

I suggest moving the CSS from within the source, and putting it with the rest in the attached style sheet.

Very well done for a first site I'd say. Congrats :-)

Decent straight forward and simple web design here mate.

I appreciate the ironyof crying into your computer trying to design a website for anti despressants - truly hilarious!!

On another note, I do agree that the red hover on the left is too harsh against the blue, fair enough the title is red but it clashes too much imo.

Great attempt all the same!! :)

The css was originally all in my style sheet but i moved it in to the source so I could get different lengths of the sidebar on different pages, not sure if theres a way i get around that?

I agree with the blockyness of the page too. Once i finally manage to get photoshop to install properly i'll try blending in the colors where the header and sidebar meet, maybe try curving the edges of the header too.

Anyway thanks for the feedback everyone.
