November 10, 201312 yr I have a link to a personal G+ profile and a local business G+ page (transferred from Google Maps per Google) in the footer of my site. The picture from the personal profile is now showing next to my url in search results. When I run a test in nibbler it sees both profiles but is still not giving me credit for having a G+ profile when it says the local business G+ page is not connected to my site. When I go to the G+ business page, it says that it is. And again, the pic from the G+ personal profile is showing next to my url in search results. My question is, do I need to add a "author" tag and / or "publisher" tag to my site (which one) and if so, do I do so for the personal or business G+ profile for SEO purposes? Thank you in advance for the insight.
November 15, 201312 yr The rel=author tag is for your personal profile, ie you are personally the author of a specific piece of content. The rel=publisher tag would be the effectivly tell Google that this Google+ business page is owned by this website. As an example an online magazine / publication would use the publisher tag for the website, blog posts, articles etc would use the author tag being there could be multiple authors. Try using Google webmaster tools, there is a tool to test your markup on specific pages.
March 12, 201412 yr Author Does anyone have the html5 valid version of the publisher meta tag? Done some research, and all options I cannot get to validate. Please advise. Thank you in advance.
