November 5, 201312 yr I'm very much a website design beginner as I'm self taught and really haven't picked up some of the basics correctly. I built a website for a business, and it looks decent enough, but now I'm having to create another site and I'm wanting to do a better job this time. Hopefully some of you can point me in the right direction, and prevent me making the same mistakes I made in my first website! Thanks

November 5, 201312 yr Hi Hiddenvoices, Are you using a CMS to build your website or are you coding a static website yourself? If you aren't using a CMS I would recommend it. You can then take most of the design and coding out of the build as you can find a free CMS and themes/designs all over the web.

I just found out about wordpress and wix, and some of their stuff looks really good. It's something I'll have to look into! The only thing that worries me is lack of control using such things. I'm good at making up logos and the like and it looks like I may have aesthetic compatibility problems with my designs and wix designs. But like I said I'm definitely open to the idea.
November 6, 201312 yr Use WordPress instead of Wix, You can make WordPress bespoke designs and add logos to most themes very easily. This way you or your client can easily edit the content of the website, which is also makes the whole process quicker..
