May 23, 201313 yr Normally just submit your site map with Google. I also normally check it with http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html and then they give you the option to ping the sitemap to others. As for how long; no idea. As to 'do they email you', no but webmaster tools will show how many pages from the sitemap are indexed so check back in a week.

September 24, 201313 yr Agree with Matthew Claffey view that after launching website on web , next step is to follow the guidelines of each search engine in order to improve the on-line visibility of website i.e. SEO. To make website search engine friendly then optimize whole website according to each search engine guidelines so as to ranked website at higher position and gain more visitors.
September 24, 201313 yr you have the site, it needs Search engine friendly pages, Have you <title> tags in your header that are optimised for the onpage content? Do you use <h1>, <h2>, <h3>, etc is there plenty of content on the site that isn't stuffed full of keywords? mIf so as the guys have said submit your sitemap to Google WMT also look at Bing WMT too as they offer information that Google doesn't. The More info as to how people are coming to your site and which search terms are being used etc the better. If you want to rank, it isn't just a case these days of building thousands of links into your site, Google now looks at the bounce rates, content and many more factors
