I'm writing this post using Lynx browser for linux. It's a browser that runs in the terminal window, so there's no graphics, and no mouse activity. It's as minimal as you can get. But I quite like it in a weird retro kind of way. Anyone on *nux should give it a whirl. Just apt-get install lynx, then type lynx and your terminal turns into a browser. Like Magic!!! Any chance of a subforum for this software giant?

Use a text browser such as Lynx to examine your site, because most search engine spiders see your site much as Lynx would. If fancy features such as JavaScript, cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Flash keep you from seeing all of your site in a text browser, then search engine spiders may have trouble crawling your site.

Of course, my narcissistic streak forced me to view my own sites in Lynx as soon as I powered it up. If anything, they were better than in firefox

Lynx is for any flavour of linux (and unix too I think).

 

I have some linux crazy friends who refuse to use anything other than lynx

interesting, I have a dual boot Linux and vista system.

 

I think I shall check this out when I boot into linux next

It runs on Linux, and I think you can get something similar for mac. The only way I can think of to make it run in windows is to install VMWare, then install a linux distro into VMW, then you can use the terminal.

There could be a similar app for windows terminal, but I don't know about it if there is....

For those of you using FireFox, there is also an add-on that lets you see how your site would look in a Lynx browser..
