I have been working on an Industry Specific Job site which I have needed to create two user role types and specific permissions per user role, Job seekers and recruiters.

 

To do this I have needed to create two user login / register forms which will auto assign the user as to which form they submit.

My question is would you use two registration forms to auto assign the user roles or one user registration form and allow the user to pick their role from there?

 

Any advice on this usability issue of mine would be great!

Keeping things simple where possible is always a good idea so I would suggest using separate forms.

 

However I would recommend that the backend of the registration process be tightened up, particularly for persons claiming to be employers/ recruiters. Otherwise the site could rapidly fill up with spam and bogus vacancies used to sucker in folk to phishing or identity theft scams. You really need to have users reply to a confirmation email and employers should not be allowed to signup at all with gmail or yahoo addresses.
