New to these forums, but I'll post an introduction later.

 

Anyway, I'm simply looking for constructive criticism concerning a personal logo I recently designed (attached below).

 

It is in fact my first official logo design so be gentle

 

It's pretty plain for now. As you can probably tell, the logo has the form of a butterfly. However, unlike the left wing, the right wing is formed out of two "P"s (for the initials of my name. Actually, there is a deeper meaning behind the form of the logo, but I don't feel like boring everyone with the explanation. I tried experimenting with it a bit (for example, making the image symmetrical), though I personally prefer how it is currently.

 

Anyway, blah blah blah. Any advice? Good logo concept? Bad logo concept? Anything I should change? etc.

But I was wondering, a butterfly as we know always got the same wings.\

So why did you decide to change that? Because it ain't a butterfly anymore!

I see nothing much wrong with your logo in terms of potentially working in greyscale, simplicity, sharp lines, colour scheme etc. - you haven't fallen into most of the traps people do when first starting to design logos.

 

Having said that, I think it looks more like a "B" than a "P". Which kind of holds you back a bit. If you filled in the bottom part of the "P" wing in the same colour as the other wings, who knows, that might clarify it a bit (difficult to tell without actually doing it).

Well first of all, I'm no longer making it "my" logo. It's too.....feminine. haha. So what I did was I made up an imaginary name that has a first and last name beginning with "p" and made it "her" logo instead

 

Anyway, it turns out I haven't made an "official" logo yet, though I have another to add to the portfolio.

Yea, that was bugging me that the wings weren't symmetrical but for some reason, I preferred it. I think I might play around with it some more though.

Hm, perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but if I filled in the bottom part of the "p" wing, that may take away the form of the second "p". There's two, one on top of the other. Though, you're right, it can look like a B... hmm. Going to go work on it

I meant fill the bottom section of it in the same colour as the wings on the other side, thereby blending it into the background and more defining the P shape. Therefore, you'd then have three white fills, and one grey one.

 

If they had a name that was "B" and "P" then you could make the left hand side the B and the right hand side the P. Or any other combination. You potentially have a P and a B and the reversed versions as well, to mix and match.

 

Another thing I like about this logo, is that it's slightly tilted, which gives it a nice touch.

Very nice logo. i prefer the first version (with the greenish color in the wing)..

I am liking your logo design. However I think there should be some colored flavor as well depending on the profession you are going to use this logo for.

My first thought was of an elephant, not a butterfly.
