Creating a custom Tumblr Theme

Featured Replies

Any advice on creating a custom Tumblr theme from scratch? Any articles you have found useful other than the documentation already provided by Tumblr.

Trying to keep my Theme as minimal as possible. But would like to add the following features:

1. Restrict post preview to 6 lines or equivalent characters.

2. Add a read full post link.

As always, your time and advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig.

Hey cjbwebco,

I used to make tumblr themes, I enjoyed it and I learnt alot from it.

Unfortunately all my themes were rejected from the theme garden with the same reason:

"Moderator feedback: Does not fit accepted Tumblr blog functionality or aesthetics."

So probaly they were to ugly or I made a coding error.

Here is my last creation: theme-developer.tumblr.com

If you want to learn the code to create a nice tumblr theme visit: http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/custom_themes

Keep me up to date ;)

Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses. I gave up with tumblr in favour of WordPress. I have built a custom WP theme to match the existing style of a static website. If you guys do anything similar please get in touch!

Thanks,

: )
