March 26, 201214 yr Hi there, On the whole, I like it. There are a few small issues though which I noticed and bug me a little: First off, the wooden foor board texture used for the background is great; but there's a bit right at the top that looks out of place. It isn't continuous. Secondly, I'm not a fan of the handwritten font. A hand written font, sure, but I find that one quite difficult to read. Especially the e-mail address in the header, which being a color relatively close to the background doesn't help it in any way either. Thirdly, I'm not a fan of the texture you've used for the Twitter and Facebook logos. It looks a bit cheesey in my opinion; maybe it's the color. It looks very red compared to the rest of the design and looks a bit out of place. Perhaps most importantly, there are numerous layout issues. I've attached a number of screenshots to show what I mean. I have no idea if there are more than this, but these I noticed straight away. The margin at the top of the page is broken by the picture of the phone. It looks a bit odd, perhaps move it down slightly to be in line with the rest of the header? Looking at the slider, the nav arrows seem to be in a different position (relative to the image) for each slide. Probably just a case of making sure the images you use share a uniform width. The 'Welcome to DS Joinery' section really needs some padding applied. It would make it much easier on the eyes and more legible. Regardless of padding, I still find that section difficult to read. The text size seems small, and although you've used a faded white background, it's still pretty much brown. Black text on a brown background doesn't make easy reading. I hope I haven't come across as overly-critical. As I said, I like it. But, it would be a shame to let an otherwise good design down by simple mistakes / issues (in my opinion). Hope that helped, Tom Edit to add: The Twitter / Facebook icons: Are they supposed to be links? If so, they're not working. If not, they look like they should be clickable. The contact form let me submit an empty form and gave me confirmation it was sent: Maybe add some front and back end validation. The conten pane on every page: I've already mentioned padding issues, but also the content seems...in-complete? I'm not sure if this is what you were referring to when you said it's not finished, but: > There are no link styles (they just look like plain text) > 'T', 'A', 'FB' etc. on the contact page: It doesn't look great. Some nice icons, or at least writing out the full words rather than a letter or two and spacing it out better would improve it infinitely. > The map just opens a static image: Maybe an option to check directions / integrate Google Maps? I could go on, but... The actual content of each page looks like an afterthought compared to the rest of the elements on the page. As far as a visual hierarchy goes, it's way down at the bottom. March 26, 201214 yr There's definitely issues with the slideshow and not just the positioning of foward/ back buttons. Finding the advert (and SEO backlinks) to a 'freebie' slideshow builder website was bad enough but to discover that the javascript powering it is actually located on somebody elses server came as quite a surprise. Quite what the client will say when they discover that pop-up advertising somebody elses website is anybodys guess, but will wager it's not going to be pleasent on your ears.

March 26, 201214 yr Your website says "Can someone call me". It makes you sound desperate for work. I hope this helps.
March 26, 201214 yr Author Your website says "Can someone call me". It makes you sound desperate for work. I hope this helps. That is was supposed to look like the customer is asking them to call, maybe I could add " marks, they are not desperate for work - far from it
March 26, 201214 yr I suggest you add cursor: pointer; to the hover event of your navigation. All in all, it looks average, not totally set with the social labels or the form.
March 26, 201214 yr Author I suggest you add cursor: pointer; to the hover event of your navigation. All in all, it looks average, not totally set with the social labels or the form. It might look average but would you spend a lot of time on something for no pay !
March 26, 201214 yr It might look average but would you spend a lot of time on something for no pay ! I didn't mean to offend you in any way, it's just my take on it, and yes, I would, creating things to the best of my ability even if there is no pay involved, it makes you feel good.
