A year ago, I designed a website for my friend's brother-in-law. When I finished it, I put a screenshot and description of the site on my online portfolio, like I do for all websites that I design. I am better at coding than graphic design (Photoshop), and I told the client this when I took on the project, and he said that was fine as he would get a graphic designer to make the logo and icons. In the meantime, I built the site using the old logo and graphics that the client provided. The colour scheme was the same, so it was OK.

 

However, now that the graphic designer has supplied her logo and icons, the site now looks quite a bit different to how it did when I first finished it. Is it OK for me to keep the site on my portfolio, with the screenshot showing my own work? If visitors to my portfolio click on the link to the website, they'll notice that it looks different to the screenshot, so should I mention in the description that the graphics have been done by someone else? I just don't want people to get confused.

 

What do you do in a situation where a site you've designed has been modified by someone else?

What you can do is keep the site on your portfolio, update the screenshot and write the type of work you've performed on the website, leaving design out of it.
