January 25, 201214 yr Hi everyone, I'm new! I have a question! I am designing this "simple" one page website for a client, but i have been told that i will be supplied with the advertising content from another company's database! just really wondering how will this work? is it possible to do this?? will i not have to set up a separate database for my client?? confused! any help greatly appreciated!
January 26, 201214 yr It depends, maybe its from a syndication feed, maybe its an XML feed, or an API or maybe its a database you can query with a username and password (via some kind of deal with the ad provider - unlikely but possible). You could also be receiving an archive of their database, maybe you will need to collect via FTP like Nielsen and other book publishers do. In other words, there are loads of possibilities, you'll want to ask your client for clarification on this ad companies DB and how the data is accessed, as there are numerous possibilities.
January 27, 201214 yr Author Hi FizixRichard, Thanks for the reply. I looked in to it again, Looks like there are two types of content i can be provided with! -Auto-updating content, using quick and easy JavaScript technology. OR -Static content, including news and opinion articles, promotional graphics and more. hoping that this wont be to hard to do!!
