Backend work for Social sites

Featured Replies

How much work is using information off sites like facebook, myspace, and twitter? is it legal and who would know to get to all of this information? and most importantly how it would cost a developer to do all of this backend work?

Erm, you get all this information by creating an amzing social network and by engaging users to sign up and share stuff! Rinse and repeat :)

As Rallport said, you can find out loads of info using the Facebook API e.g

https://graph.facebook.com/gingerjock - JSON data of my facebook profile.

As you can see my facebook privacy settings stop you from seeing most things but if you were to make an application and I authorized the application then it could see pretty much everything about me.
