October 7, 201115 yr Hi all, Just a very quick question... I have two folders: /live/ and /test/ They should have the same files, but when I update something in /test/, and press a 'Commit' button I'd like it to roll across to the /live/ folder. That's it. If it can track changes and when they were made that would be a nice bonus, but not essential. Is there any software that will do this for me? I'm really struggling to find something nice and simple which will do this. Many thanks Edited October 7, 201115 yr by qzhzpwuemvkdce
October 7, 201115 yr you can use a post-commit hook to perform actions after a commit. http://mikewest.org/2006/06/subversion-post-commit-hooks-101 you probably wont find a pre-made script because people who need this can and do just code something custom up... also the set-up seams a little weird as it seams your staging copy is actually a dev copy and generally speaking you leave production alone when developing
October 8, 201115 yr Easiest way would be to use bazaar - http://bazaar.canonical.com/en/ Set up a working directory and checkout that repository to live and testing. then bzr push /path/to/live or just bzr update from the live folder. If you dont want anything fancy at all then just use rsync, I think you can get it for windows.
October 10, 201115 yr Author Many thanks for the replies and suggestions guys, honestly I'm still completely baffled by the entire thing and having tried to install/configure many pieces of software (Bazaar, Tortoise, RapidSVN, TortoiseHG etc) I still cannot get this working at all, I think I just can't grasp the concept of an SVN (my belief is that you have three folders - /live/, /test/ and /svn/ - you can update from test to live, and all changes will be documented/stored in the svn folder?) so cannot get on with it... Going to try DeltaCopy I think, I do at least understand the concept behind that, just select two folders, and hit merge - can't go wrong really
