how do I position this menu bar?

I'm working on trying to customize the css on a wordpress theme so I can make it look like my main site and I have run into a problem. I don't think I am able to alter the html but I can alter the css file.

Originally the header banner was below the nav bar but I wanted it the other way round so I position:absolute; the nav bar with top set to 80px and margin left / right set to auto.

Its sitting below the banner but is pushed up to the left and I can't figure out how to fix it.

Its ok I think ive fixed it for now mods feel free to delete this post.
