I only skimmed the forum for this topic so please forgive me if it's been done before.

 

I'm new to using Joomla and I've only used 1.6. I've been at it for about two months and although I know there's still some ways to go, I'm comfortable with my current skill level.

 

I've recently been working on a website that needs Virtue Mart like a fish needs water, but as many of you already know - the 1.6 compatible beta version of Virtue Mart is still quite buggy and none of the other free extensions come even close to cutting it.

 

Basically I want to use Virtue Mart for cataloguing, not selling.

 

 

- So my question is this, is it worth it downgrading to Joomla 1.5 just for this extension?

 

- Also, I cant seem to find many disadvantages of using 1.5 as opposed to 1.6, so is it a good idea to just stick to using 1.5 until 1.6 has more extensions?

Its early for 1.6 because once you develope the website you cant find google working extentions for 1.6. So its better to start with 1.5 to get the better results.
