I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong section.

 

I am working on a university project to design a basic website and had thought I had achieved all the aims of my assignment and all I had left to do was to write up my report and submit it. However, I had only tested it on chrome and Firefox and when going through it at university I discovered it would not run properly on Explorer. I have some questions regarding that later regarding why my css that works on both chrome and Firefox needs to be different for internet explorer and how to make it work for both.

 

I have a big problem here. Before I can ask people here the questions I need answers to, I want to try it at home and see if I can solve this. But for some reason I keep getting an error message on Internet Explorer saying "Navigation to the website has been canceled" and I cannot view the page.

 

I have Internet Explorer 8 on my pc and the operating system is windows 7.

 

Once I can get past this problem and load the page on IE I can then work on solving why my page works on FF and Chrome but not IE and if still stuck ask for assistance with regard to my CSS.

 

I am hoping someone can get me to this stage at least please.

No, it is saved as html file, the css file is in the same folder. I have no issue being able to view on Chrome or FF just with IE.

You will probably have to attach the site so we can at least view the site and see whats going on

I think the point where I would post some of the code comes after I can actually access it on IE. Since I can access it on FF and Chrome I doubt it is an issue with my code stopping it, but maybe a setting in IE which I pretty much refuse to use under normal circumstances, but since it has been stated it must work in IE I have no option.

 

As a simple test I went to one of the main well known tutorial sites and cut and paste one of their pieces of code used in one of their basic tutorials. I saved that and tried to open in IE and had the same result.

 

I know if I can't fix my positioning problem on my own, I will probably have to attach code in order to get advice but I do need to be careful as it is for a project. I am hoping this is a known issue that someone knows how to deal with.

The above issue with not being able to access my html files on ie is now fixed. I needed to add a registry file to allow me to access them on ie.

 

So now I can work on the real issue here which is that my fixed divs are not being where they should be on ie and how to get around that. I am reading up on it now and hope to find the solution, but any tips will be gratefully received.
