Hi all,

Ive been working on the design of this site over the weekend and ive got to a point where im happy with it but some fresh thoughts would be welcome :)

Bit of background - im doing this site free for a friend who is starting up a PC repair business and wants something that's clean, fresh but pleasing to the eye.

The only thing im not sure about is the typography as that's not one of my strong points so be as honest as you can :)

Problems:

  • The text on the bottom right corner of the white gives me a headache, make it all along one line or don't type with capitals at the start of every word 'Like This Sort Of Text'.
  • The logo in the top left-hand corner keep the 'PC repairs' the same font as 'Pendle'.

And if you like I'll make you a graphic of a computer with better styles text and computer? For free.

It looks too empty for me, there is a lot of white-space everywhere, maybe try to move 'display' to the left/right and add aditional text paragraph on the side or move the text from below.

I didn't make the logo and I cant be arsed to try and recreate it :p I agree though.

Thanks for the suggestion on the text though. Im rubbish at those things :D Also thanks for the offer on the graphic, the guy likes that monitor though :/

I went for that as a felt that it was best to keep it simple. I have changed my mockup though but feel it looks a bit like a insurance site now :/

Maybe it'll look better once the slider is coded?

I don't want to sound like a total asshole but to be honest it hurts my eyes. The first thing I observed is a long slider which has lot of free space on the right and left side.

What fonts are you using? I'd recommend you to search for "50 best looking fonts"/"original fonts for webdesign", because the fonts used by you look bad.

The main reason why I don't like the template is because it's too simple and has lot of free space, maybe back in 1999's it was a good design but for nowadays it's outdated.

I used Arial which I thought was best suited for the job.

Critism always helps though so thanks for the suggestion :)

I'll take a look at my fonts and try something else. I think there's something wrong with my Photoshop install as it's been giving out some crap font styles for a while. May the spacing/line height is set wrong... or maybe it's just me :p
