July 8, 201115 yr Hi there, So I have already posted a topic: 'Should I get pissed with this company?' previously on this forum so for more info you can look at that but I'll try my best to go through the situation again. I hired a web design company back in March to build me a new site. My current site is through a web builder - Mr Site The website was 'verbally' agreed to end at the end of April ( I know I should have in writing but sadly didnt) There were many delays. Some were put down to The Royal Wedding Weekend but most were caused by the company I hired taking time to get things up and running. However..that is not my main concern... My main concern is that way back on the 6 June the design company began the process of transferring my domain name from mr site. 10 failed attempts to Network Solutions, 3 faxes and 1 failed attempt to a new company(UK Reg) today and still - authorisation code invalid. Now Enom - the company who apparently stores my domain name tell me it is nothing to do with them and Mr Site say it is nothing to do with them and the guys at the web design company say they have never had a problem like this in 16 years. The epp codes are, apparently sound so it must be the other companys who tell me it's mr site who tell me its enom etc... So I'm going in absolute circles and my business losing revenue daily. Just so you know..when I have attempted to transfer these names I have concurred each f'ing symbol, number, letter like I'm about to launch a nuclear strike..read every bit of information like my life depended on it..and even been on the phone to each seperate company to get this to work. Now my design company seem to be disinterested..Tuesday is the soonest they can deal with it again. So F them, F all of them! Has anybody got a sniff of a clue what could be going on..Are there any legal rules/regulations I can use to threaten somebody with..has anybody ever come across something similar before? and is this the longest domain transfer in recent history? As you might be able to tell, I'm writing this in anger after a **** day at work and 2 hours of telephone calls to these companys on premium rate numbers, in America and England. As you might not been able to tell is that I am normally a very nice person and I much appreciate every response given. Thanks Mo

July 9, 201115 yr I've been through a similar pain barrier before on behalf of clients. The only advise I can offer, is that once the transfer is done, ensure that you have full access to modify your DNS entries in the future. Get the login details for DNS management from your new web dev / hosting company and keep them on file. If this isn't possible, as often hosting companies have multiple domains managed under one account, setup your own domain account (via 123reg or similar) and ask them to transfer the domain to you, along with the correct hosting IP number details.
