I recently discovered something pretty interesting regarding SEO, I don't know how new this concept is

 

but it seems like the next wave of SEO is here, its a certain structure of your website called a silo and its all about organizing

 

your site when you build it so that is search engine friendly,

 

ie, when the search engine bots come to your site they see that everything is laid out in a way that perfectly suites

 

SEO and as a result they will give your site a very good page rank.

 

If any one has any knowledge about this and how it compares to natural SEO then i would be really interested in

 

hearing about it.

Hi Nick,

In the olden days (which is about 6 months in SEO terms) Google would assign higher PR to files in the root directory, and drop the PR by 1 for each subdirectory.

This is void now though I'm afraid as Google has changed its algorithm to assign PR to pages on a far more individual basis, its quite possible now for a single page on a site 2 subdirectories down to have a higher PR than the home page.

 

I still personally choose to use as few subdirectories as possible so that my url structures are clean - which definitely does have an effect on ranking (but not pr)
