Have any idea about reputation management in SEO?

What do you mean? How do you get into the search engine? How to get your site shown on Google search? What do you mean?

The Internet is more widely accessible than ever, and as more people take advantage of this connectivity, there are those who have an agenda of tarnishing the images of rival companies. Small to medium sized companies are unfortunately not immune to negative online comments. SEO Reputation Management is essential and it starts with, of course, Search Engine Optimization (SEO). One of many ways that companies can engage in Reputation Management is through SEO. An aggressive SEO campaign is necessary in order to build brand recognition, promote a positive image, and be ready to deal with negative comments anywhere, anytime.

By definition, in-place SEO strategies serve to also function as Reputation Management. SEO focuses on gaining top search engine rankings through the use of Onsite and offsite optimization which involve the consistent addition, indexation and syndication of fresh content such as blog posts, articles, press releases, videos and more. These processes serve to consistently raise the bar for any negative comments to overcome to actually be visible online to any significant degree. Therefore in-place SEO strategies are truly proactive and very effective as SEO Reputation Management.

I guess you are looking fro SMO (Social Media Optimization).

SMO

SMO refers to the process of refining a website so that it's awareness and content are easily spread through social mediums and online communities by users and visitors of the website. It can include anything done "on-page" such as improving the design and usability of the website so that it becomes more compelling to users, in an effort to help them spread it through social media sites. The simplest example of SMO is represented by all the "digg this" and "add to delicious" icons and links that are all over the web today.

If you’re looking for strong brand engagement, awareness, and extra exposure, we can engage the social mediums. Social media marketing, along with SEO, can help you gain multiple listings on search engine results pages, resulting in direct and indirect search engine traffic

SMM

SMM on the other hand plays more of an active role in relation to social media by referring to the creation and distribution of content and other messages through the social web by some form of viral marketing. This can be anything from creating compelling content that gets bookmarked and even hits digg's homepage to spreading a viral video by putting it on YouTube and other social media websites. It's about the things that are done off-site, for example, participating in online communities where your customers hang out would be an active role that falls under SMM.

It is rare that a successful long standing company does not at some stage have some kind of negative feedback from a competitor who is jealous, a dissatisfied client, a prima-donna who wants to look special or just someone who simply wants to rock the boat. Of course the vast majority of website owners do not have a problem with their reputation.

However, with more and more user- generated content media and social media opportunities, there is the danger that negative comments/posts can find themselves in the top 10 of Google, or even worse, above-the-fold on a search for your company name, individual name, brand/product name or main keywords.

I am a great believer in free speech. However, free speech has its drawbacks. Sometimes negative feedback can get written with little justification or evidence provided. This can be disastrous PR wise, especially for strong brands.

Sometimes, however, negative comments are justified. In this case, a marketing manager will still want the “negative” page on the second page of Google results. It is a bit of a problem for SEO companies to offer this service, as they could be seen as manipulating Google to the detriment of users if there is a real basis for negative comments, and could themselves face a problem with their reputation. “ABAKUS helping the XYZ cowboys to gain reputation!".

Try to put quality content and resources and you will have a reputed image online.

i assume the OP is talking about SEO effecting a company's reputation like... eg: finding a company name and link amongst inappropriate gambling/porn related content or mass article submission of the same/similar article to many many article directories - whether these things hurt a company's reputation?

maybe OP can clarify the question
