Hi,

 

When i designed my site i obviously, like all designers couldn't cater for absolutely everyone with every type of device.

I know my site works on almost all desktops, laptops, netbooks and mobiles except for... an HTC running the newest version of Android.

I'm going to take a guess that all previous iterations of Android probably don't render my site properly either. It only came to my attention when a friend showed me my site running on his HTC running Android yesterday.

 

Notable points are the twitter feed on my blog page doesn't render along with menu items being positioned under each other. Both use javascript but he said he has javascript enabled. My site is http://www.voltronik.com

 

So, is there a way i can test my site on an HTC running Android without actually having access to that particular device? Is there a website that does it for me or a virtual machine? How does everyone else do it?

 

Any help anyone could give would be much appreciated!

I have an android tablet that I test sites on. You can also use an Android x86 virtual machine - http://android-x86.googlecode.com/files/froyo-vm-20100812.iso

 

I'm assuming that the HTC phone just uses the standard android web browser, I checked your site on my tablet and yeah the navigation is a bit wonky but it doesnt really effect the functionality. I wouldn't even bother fixing it TBH.

On chrome your contact form shifts over when you write a message longer than 1 line...

Ste: Did you mean in the description box? What version of Chrome are you running and on what OS?

It doesn't seem to happen for me with Chrome for Mac.

 

Jock: thanks for your reply. I'm running it in Oracle Virtual box but it seems very slow. Is it like that for you?

Ok,

 

Narrowed down one of the issues with my site.

By using Froyo running in a Virtual Machine on my Mac using Oracle VirtualBox, i can confirm that my twitter feed on http://www.voltronik.com/blog works fine however, a friend running Android Cupcake on his HTC can't see my twitter feed at all. He has javascript turned on. I am using the Twitter Widget Pro for Wordpress plugin.

 

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?

 

I also have an issue regarding the size of my menu text on Android. Can't seem to work out what is causing this either.

 

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Ste: That's fine. I just wondered (as you use this forum) if you were a bleeding edge dev channel (or nightly build) user or not.
