I'm new to the forum and this is my first post of many! I have been developing websites for a while now but I have never offered the services of creating E-commerce websites. This is because I have not looked into it yet and have very little knowledge of this area. I am looking for a solution to work with in future projects but don't know where to start. I will list below what I am looking for and maybe you could give me some suggestions?

 

I understand creating a custom shopping cart and e-commerce system then integrating payment would be a mammoth task. I am willing to use a system but after looking at some of those available they don't appeal to me.

 

I would like a system that is easy to integrate into a site I build. Most of the solutions available seem to require building the site or some form of template around the system. Are there any solutions in which it is more like the other way round; integrating the system into the site I design and build? Maybe on a modular basis? Also do most e-commerce solutions require a payment gateway also? If I were to build a site for a customer I would like to have the payment pages and process completely on site.

 

I am a complete novice in the e-commerce section over here so any other tips, advice or helpful articles/resources would be much appreciated. I would also prefer to work with something mysql and PHP based Thanks in advance!
