How to block whole site from search engines

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

It it possible to block a site from all search engines? Will a robots txt file work?

I have a password protected site only for friends to see. I'm worried the search engines will pick it up. Is this possible?

Many thanks

if its password protected, will it matter? Just dont submit it, and set it to no follow

The site is password protected from the root, will this stop search engines from being able to read the content of the site?

well, say your main root directory is password encyrpted, then no they wont be able to see your content, as they dont have the password to acces the root directory, so they cant even get content off any of the other pages:

so long story cut short, if the root has a password, you cant see anything in it. Like a house has a lock, unless you have they, no one can get inside

Hope it helped :)

no problem buddy :) Glad i could help, although the little green plus in the bottom, is ticklish, why not give him a little poke :p

Thanks,

Ash
