It wont help as far as im aware, can just show you alerts on words that you want alerted for and see where online that term is being used / discussed etc :)

Google alert is useful for learning particular topics,u can get the update results for the topic u set alert.

Google alerts can be used to inform you of blogs and forums that you know allow you to add a backlink to your site.
