December 18, 201015 yr I need some help to sort out navigation issues around the design of my website. Right now I have a layout, but my problem is more of how I will present navigation to all the content that I will eventually have. I plan to have 30 odd pages within the first 2-3 months, but expect it to rise rapidly to 100 pages and even more and my issue so far is determining how will I make sure everyone knows where all of that juicy content can be found. How can I achieve this without burying pages too deep in the file hierarchy? So for I have a 2 column layout with a central horizontal navigation bar. The bar along with the left column from the layout is where I intend to have all navigation. The problem is there are two main categories of information so naturally I am thinking of using the horizontal bar to split those two categories with links there, but then one of the two categories will contain about 80% of all future content so THAT category's left column may stretch down a far way if it were to "host" 100 odd articles. Any ideas here?
December 19, 201015 yr I can see what you mean. If you used a horizontal drop down menu, one tab might have just two or three drop down links while the other would have fifty or a hundred. The drop down list might have so much height that it went down below the bottom of the window where you couldn't see it. A fly-out menu from the left would also have problems showing a lot of links. However, if you use a multi-column drop down menu like http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/multi-column.html'>http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/multi-column.html you can show lots of links without using too much height. December 20, 201015 yr A large web2.0 style footer will also be useful. and in the left navigation i would suggest Accordion menu
