Stupid question...maybe

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, im just getting back into webdesign after a couple of years out of it. this may be a stupid question but i always used to build sites using html + css. More importantly from a structure/layout point of view I used floats within my css. Now is this still common practice or is this technique now out of date and if so what should I be reading up on?

thanks for your help

I use Dreamweaver just to kinda preview things as I code. I do all the coding myself though, so I have full control over what goes in and what stays out.

Timo, if your using design view in dreamweaver you probably don't have any control! Stop using design/live view - use your browser! I'd be interested to see your code... I hope you're not using WYSIWYG code.

Standards are the same Jim, build structure in XHTML and throw some CSS meat on it and you have yourself a website to standard, BOOM! The tricky part is designing a website that serves a purpose and deserves to be on the internet.

Goodluck.
