I am new to Php world, and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to where to learn php or print of a tutorial.

I hear a lot of people banging on about Lynda and sitepoint paid/subscription based tutorials but I've never seen them.

The way I learned was just following the PHP classes on www.tizag.com and then looking up what I need after that on google, here, digital point and php.net. From personal experience I would say anyone who have coded in languages such as c/c++/c# can learn the PHP syntax within about a week tops. However if you haven't then it's still a surprisingly easy language to learn and should only really take a couple of weeks tops to grasp

i was having a chat with a couple of guys i know who said there is a book out that i should try and was wondering if anyone thinks it is any good. i have enclosed a link for someone to have a look at and tell me if it is.

Tizag is good resource.

 

I rate PHP Objects, Patterns and Practices and also PHP in Action BUT, they may be too advanced, especially if you do not have a programming background/knowledge.

 

A friend of a friend says that Head First PHP & MySQL is a good book.

 

Seems at-least okay from a quick skim.

i got basic programming skills on CSS and HTml and some java but that is pritty much it.

 

i will have a look at what is the best.

i have had a look at tizag.com and was wondering there is a ebook you can buy do you think it is worth it or not.
