Got an example?

Silhouettes are generally black, plain black.

Thanks bocaj, is this the only used method, or is there various ways... what about adding detail from a standard silhouette image ??

Thanks :good:

Are you on about adding text to the image, as below

If so use .png and add a layer of text

No the actual detail as in eyes, kneck detail, for any silhouette logo to emphasise the image more...whats the best tool and method to do it... plain old pen tool in illustrator ? I see this sort of affect used in many logos, maybe there just classed as vector drawings ?

You could always find some images of the bits you'd like to incorporate, e.g. the eyes, then just past them in, either run through that tutorial for the individual elements, or better yet just quickly trace the lines with the pen tool.

To be honest, the closest i've ever done to this kind of thing was when we did half-tone self portraits in college, tracing lines and clipping masks worked pretty well for that, so i assume it'll work (:

I usually bring a logo created in Illustrator into Photoshop in pieces (depending on where I want to focus certain effects) and then deal with fine tuning drop shadows/inner shadows/outer glows/etc. Illustrator doesn't really give me the fine tuning abilities as Photoshop does. Of course there are a lot of exceptions to this; need for a purely vector logo vs. raster logo. Good luck.
