June 13, 201016 yr Hey guys just wanted to check the best options for image hosting. Say a site uses lots of hi-res images for uses to browse, download etc... [flikr.com is a perfect example] Generally, are all their images stored on their web server? Or is there a another method of doing this, say uploading the images to a different server to keep hosting costs down? I can image that kind of space can't be cheap, so is it just a case of uploading them on your main web server and paying for more server space, or is there a different method? thanks guys, snick
June 13, 201016 yr Author Alot of lager sites use cloud storage services, a popular one would be amazon s3. Thanks alot for the info
June 13, 201016 yr It might be worth looking for web packages with unlimited webspace. Look out for reseller packages. I can provide ya with unlimited webspace for £30.00 a year. You can set up a subdomain (img.yourdomain.co.uk) point it to a reseller account and then you get the added benefit of increasing download parallelisation cos ya distributing http requests across multiple hostnames. Plus ya spreading the bandwidth if your hosting has limits there too. Regs, Numb
