as you can see, it's fine in Firefox, but if you look at it in IE it messes up and jumps when the picture on the slider changes. so every 4 or 5 seconds the bar below the picture spazzes out.

 

does anyone know what i can do to fix this?

Try adding height:0; to your .clr

looks fine in IE8. In fact IE makes a better job of your language flags placement than FF or Chrome. Also you have an American flag with the alt text 'English'.
