April 24, 201016 yr I can only afford to buy one "XHTML And CSS" Book I've seen the html, xhtml and ccs bible book by steven schafer. Is this any good? or would you advise another one for me to keep. I appreciate that there are plenty of online tutorials, but I can't spend the whole time on the computer/internet. So if you're just a starter like me (who only has about two weeks reading/experience on html and css) what xhtml and css book would you keep?

May 4, 201016 yr I had a little look at the SitePoint CSS book that was released a few years ago - I learned most of the intermediate stuff like positioning and box models. That will be out-of-date now. The web is the best place. If you are avoiding too much reading on the PC, then the Kindle is the way forward

May 4, 201016 yr God I want a kindle A colleague of mine has one. I have one slight problem with it - you can't actually write any of your own stuff. If there was a capability to do word-processing on it, I would go out and buy one in a heartbeat. I'd spend countless hours on it just writing notes and general rubbish. I would highly recommend sitepoint, although I did not use their CSS + HTML book, their PHP + MySQL book was brilliant it really got me started heavily into server side scripting (although originally used classic ASP...........) It was very intuitive, and explained some of the more complicated stuff. Before I read it I did not understand why IE6 rendered webpages different from say, Chrome. It was there that I learned a couple of CSS reset tricks, and understood that sometimes browsers are stupid. I went through the books I have, and found a couple of books by Wrox. One of them is a dotNET book which made it incredibly easy to learn the basic stuff. There's an XHTML / CSS book in their range, check it out.
