  1. Hi I'm a web designer. I'm wondering if there is a contract (with nda) available for commissioning somebody to do one Project for me? Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. Many Thanks.
  2. Does anyone know of a reputable shared hosting site based in the UK. A company that caters with a lot of wordpress sites, mod rewrite etc... I'm only looking for shared hosting at present but I prefer a hosting provider that I'm able to upgrade to to vps, cloud, semi, dedicated as the site grows. Looking forward to hear some honest recommendations from you guys.
  3. Hiya guys. Not sure if I posted this in the right place. Any of you got a list (separated by comma) of all the UK cities and/or UK town. Or a link of where I can get one. Many Thanks
  4. Is £500-£1000 a reasonable charge for a 5 page wordpress/cms website, if it is a good quality design?
  5. Is £250-£375 a fair charge for a 5 page website that allows them to add extra pages and posts via a CMS like wordpress for which page and post template will be inherited? Or is this a little cheap?
  6. Thank you very much indeed BlueDreamer. You're helpful as always. I think £50 to £75 per page is excellent. Here is my only issue: When we design, we ensure that the layout is consistent. More often than not subpages would most likely inherit the layout of other pages, the only difference being the textual content itself, or an extra table or perhaps just a different subheader image to spice it up. Is it justifiable to charge £50-£75 per additional page on this matter? Even more so if you have to you use a cms like wordpress to create additional pages with the same page layout. Obviously, if you have to edit the copy itself, that is another matter.

  8. 1. I think it'll be a bit tricky to charge per hour when you're not very experienced yet as you may take twice as much time compared to someone who has years and years of experience. 2. Any rough guide (price range) as to how much should be charge for a 5, 10 pages or more? 3. What do you mean by CMS associated costs? I'll probably just handcode brochure type websites but for CMS, most likely wordpress or drupal which are both open source.
  9. Just wondering how much I should charge a client for a web design using wordpress, drupal or any open source CMS for use in schools, nurseries, or brochure type company website. I know the usual guideline is based on how long this would take but this may very depending on the designer's experience. One may code a single page for an hour when others may take 5 hours. Is there a rough guideline that I can use? For overall theme design? Per unique page layout etc...
  10. Or if you don't mind, it would be nice if you just post it here so anyone interested can see it. That way, you don't have to email every single member. Many Thanks.
  11. Sorry, I'm not really an expert but your code seems to be missing something here: width:949 auto
  12. Is there a ready made script/software that you can use for UK Town/City or postcode search like the one on this site: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ Or for a much simpler postcode/town/city search like on Toby's: http://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/find-a-toby.html Would appreciate any help on this matter. Many Thanks.
  13. I completely agree. Just like other people's advise, your home is not the best place to conduct meetings etc... But wouldn't they cast doubt if they're only invited out to cafe instead of your business place? Similarly, there are some newly formed web design limited company out there that only has a virtual company address. Would the customers not cast any doubt if you tell them, "oh I only work at home" "the virtual address is just for mailing purposes only" or something in those lines?
  14. Many Thanks BlueDreamer As with any starter, you only work at home, and as such I dont have an office to entertain any clients. It's not so much of an issue if they're local as you can always offer to drop by to their business site. This is my only issue should they want to meet up, and you have to travel an hour to get there, only not to close a deal in the end. Did you politely ask them if they'll pay you for your time or you just rely on them to offer you some payment? Im not sure if most client will initiate any payment for your time if you no deal has been agreed.
