March 23, 201016 yr Hi all, This is my first post on here so a big shout out to everyone I have an issue on a site whereby using an anchor tag: is causing a display issue in IE8. This is the page: click If you look at the footer you'll see it has been 'doubled up' This only happens in IE8. All other browsers seem OK. All the CSS/HTML validates. If I replace the with then the problem in IE8 goes away. You can see this here Obviously I could just use the closing tag and leave it at that, but I'd rather try to understand the issue since it shouldn't really be happening - at least I think it shouldn't! Any thought gladly appreciated. Jay
March 23, 201016 yr I'm not sure if this will fix it, but you're not allowed to use # in attribute. You only use a # to jump to an id or using attribute, i.e.: Link to jump to the above
March 23, 201016 yr Author Cheers Andy - that doesn't fix it though. I've updated the page (first link in my 1st post) but the issue remains. Hmm...
March 23, 201016 yr This might be useful, their examples use a closing tag. http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/links.html#h-12.2.1
