February 1, 201016 yr ive got dreamweaver cs3 student edition and girl at college took a lone of it to put it on her machine as she cant afford her own copy (wrong of me to give her it i know probaly but i did pay plenty of money for it) but she couldnt install it as it says its all ready installed on another computer did she just do something wrong while installing it or can it only be put on one comp? thanks in advance for any help or advice
February 1, 201016 yr As it is a student edition I think the licence is only valid for one computer. So as I am guessing you activated your copy when you installed it you would of told adobe that the serial number is now being used on your computer. But you could always check with adobe to see how many computers are are allowed to install it on. Only way she could use it if you are only allowed one to use it on one computer is for you to deactivate the serial through your copy...but I'm guessing that you wouldn't really want to do that.
February 1, 201016 yr Author how does that work then if my laptop happens to breake and i get a new computer?
February 1, 201016 yr Then you phone adobe up and explain what has happened and they will deactivate it for you so you can activate it on your new machine.
February 2, 201016 yr Correct me if I am wrong, you may install Adobe softwares to 2 computers but you cannot use both of them at the same time. I think you can only use the software alternately. Here's a link that might help: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/532778 Another thing is there is a limit in the deactivation. You can activate/deactivate up to 20 times only and beyond that the software will not work upon exceeding the max 20. You will need to call up Adobe customer service to reset the activation but they will just give you an extra 5 activations. The drawback I see here is we sometimes need to reformat our computers for proper maintenance from time to time and a hassle when we need to have the activation reset.
