Really Strange IE6 Problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have updated my index page of my Wordpress site and edited the .css to change yellow/orangish box at the top to a uncoloured one I put my slider in.

In my IE8, Chrome and Firefox this works fine but on my work IE6 it is still there! Any ideas why? I cant see where it is getting it from (page wrap maybe)! Here is the section of my .css:

/* Welcome Text */
#welcome {
position: relative;
width: 940px;
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0px 0px;
margin-top: 20px;
color: #003150;
font: 17px/24px Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
}
#welcome span {
float: left;
display: block;
width: 0px;
height: 100px;
margin-top: 23px;
margin-left: 0px;
font-size: 33px;
color: #303030;
font-weight: bold;
}
#welcome_text {
position: relative;
border: 2px solid #c5c5c5;
padding: 10px 75px;
padding-bottom: 10px;
z-index: 99;
}

and home.php page:

<?php get_header(); ?>
<div id="page_wrap">
<div id="welcome">
<div id="welcome_text">
<?php if (function_exists('vslider')) { vslider(); }?>
</div>
</div>
<div id="page" class="clearfix">
   <?php get_sidebar(); ?>
   <?php $counter = 1; ?>
   <div id="content">
     <h1>Recent Business Articles - Graduate Guides | Job Advice | Soft Skills &amp Coaching</h1>
       <div class="post_wrap home">
       <?php
      if (have_posts()) { while (have_posts()) { the_post(); ?>
       <div <?php if ( function_exists('post_class') ) { echo post_class(); } else { echo 'class="post"'; } ?> id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">
       <div <?php if ($counter == 1) {
	  echo 'class="first"';
	  } elseif ($counter == 2) {
	  echo 'class="second"'; } ?>>
         <h2><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to <?php the_title_attribute(); ?>">
           <?php the_title(); ?>
           </a></h2>
         <?php the_excerpt(); ?>
         <a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to <?php the_title_attribute(); ?>">Read Article ›</a>
         </div>
       </div>
       <?php $counter++; ?>
       <?php } ?>

       <?php } else { ?>
       <h2 class="center">Not Found</h2>
       <p class="center">Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here.</p>
       <?php } ?>
     </div>
     <br class="clear" />
     <?php if ( function_exists('wpWikiFAQsList') ) { echo wpWikiFAQsList(); } ?>
   </div>
 </div>
</div>
<?php get_footer(); ?>

In your IE6 conditional comment stylesheet

http://businessbird.co.uk/wp-content/themes/wiki/css/ie.css

there is this:- background: #fed48b url(../images/welcome_gradient.jpg) repeat-y 0 0;

where #fed48b is the gold/dark yellow color and the background image gradient isn't showing.
