The first draft of a design i was working on.

Any ideas for improvments?

I was thinking move the Title to above the navigation, and also maybe a darker (grey) wood for the background.

I am also thinking of some sort of design silouette style on the outside grey sections on either side of the wood.

Any helpful comments appreciated.

i think you should improve typography

 

on header titled Welcome to Descend Wales. It needs padding-right.

I agree with both previously mentioned points. The Typography at the moment doesn't seem to flow with the design. I would maybe look for something a little grungier (for the Descend Wales) text.

 

As for the navigation menu, the links are a little hard to read, with the angled vs un-angled text. I would either use a similar font (maybe in bold) for the bottom link text or angle them to match the top link text.

 

There should also be consistent padding around the welcome box, as mentioned above.

The idea with the navigation was to have the words in bold to attract your eye first as thats what each page is about. The text above is secondary but i will do some work on it

I like the design and the feel, I do agree with the Descent Wales fonts.

 

I am a newish webdesigner so my views maybe wrong , but I though your should never use white text, as if someone turns of images, the white text will be on a white background?
