Website too wide...?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just designed this site: My link

Under Firebug, The main-window div is 900px wide. As i usually do.

But when I view the site with the Firefox toolbar > Resize > 960/1024 - The site has horizontal scroll in both these sizes?

Can anybody see why?

Thanks for your help.

Huw

I think it's

#menu{

position:absolute;

top:135px;

width:900px;

height:40px;

margin-left:20px;

}

which is 920px

I first thought it was because the #offers-button has a margin-left: 690px; but when added to the width of the image 203px is still within than 900px.

I removed the margin-left:20px; and its still the same. Thanks for that one tho!

There must be another one lurking about in there somewhere!

Thanks

i can't see what the issue is, but there is some bad code in there.

for example:

<table style="width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse;">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>
<p align="center"> </p>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>

i would certainly clean this code up before going any further, as it may well solve your issue.

The problem I have with the bad code, is that i have to code to this template (for my job) :(

I hate it in there but thats the way is has to be at the moment.

Even so, I have not had this width issue before, with any of the other templated sites iv'e done.

The other div with too much width is #right-side

#right-side {
position:absolute;
top:185px;
margin-left:700px;/*705px;*/
width:200px;
color:#666666;
font-size:12px;
text-align:justify;
}
#menu{
position:absolute;
top:135px;
width:900px;
height:40px;
margin-left: 0;/*20px;*/
}

I found that editing these two reduced the page to 900px.
